How Lotrel Reduces Blood Pressure
Lotrel is a combination of Amlodipine and Benazepril.
Amlodipine is in a class of drugs called Calcium Channel Blockers. Amlodipine relaxes (widens) your blood vessels, which makes it easier for your heart to pump and reduces its workload.
Benazeprine is in a class of drugs called Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors. Benazepril prevents chemicals in your body from causing narrowing of the blood vessels.
The combination of these drugs forms Lotrel which is used to treat high blood pressure.
Other combination drugs include Avalide, Benicar HCT, and Dyazide.
Although these medications are beneficial, many times they are not enough to control your blood pressure.
