A few thoughts from Collin about blogging:
Blogging was originally conceived as a kind of a narrative … it is a story, a personal diary, a reflection of thoughts on something, a developing narrative on a topic. One can use the blog as a kind of information delivery process – but other web forms may be useful for long term type storage such as “sterile” fact laden information as would be found in a textbook. In my mind, a really good blog is more than information. It has emotional content; it connects to the reader emotionally. It helps them identify with you, it paints a picture of the situation, it captures their imagination, it helps them to see you as a person with needs, hopes, fears, dreams. It’s like reading a good novel– there is a hook, a lead in, an unresolved situation — and you just keep reading looking for the answer as your curiosity is aroused.
